Job Description

OASIS Surgery Center is looking to add an experienced Register Nurse Circulator to its busy, growing ambulatory surgery center. The Registered Nurse Circulator is responsible for the direct and indirect provision of professional nursing care of patients within the perioperative environment. This position is full-time, between 32-40 hours per week, Monday Friday, approximately 6:30 am to 3:00pm. NO WEEKENDS or LATE NIGHTS! Flexibility is a must as schedules flex according to the surgery schedule and may include some later shifts.

The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include:
Accountable for all aspects of high-quality pre-operative, inter-operative and post-operative care to patients in the surgical environment.
Coordinates all activities within the O.R. and Procedure Room in order to provide for a non-eventful, safe, effective and timely surgical intervention.
Performs circulating functions before surgery, including preparing the operating environment, orienting and assessing the patient, and reviewing patient"s medical record and surgeon"s notes to ensure all pre-requisites and preferences are net. Ensures safety checklists and procedures are implemented and documented at all times.
Performs circulating functions during surgery, including monitoring and communicating patient condition, documenting interventions and activities, monitoring the sterile field and controlling traffic into, out of and around the room.
Anticipates the needs of the surgical team and provide supplies and equipment as requested.
Responsible for specimen handling -- to include accurate and complete identification on labels and tickets, placement in appropriate containers/solutions -- and dispatch to laboratory per established procedures.
Individualizes patient care according to patients health status, age level, and surgery/procedure being performed.
Other duties as assigned based on needs of the patients and the OR.

Qualifications:
Must have minimum of three years of experience in peri-operative nursing, including a thorough working knowledge of surgical and aseptic technique or can demonstrate competency through training and skills testing.
Must be licensed in the state of California as an R.N. and have current ACLS.
Have a working knowledge of the physiological and anatomical aspects of the surgical intervention scheduled. Experience in Orthopedic, Podiatry, Hand, Pain Management, and Cosmetic surgeries preferred.
Must possess critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Must be able to communicate and understand the English language, both verbal and written.
Must possess the physical ability and perceptive acuity (e.g., visual, hearing) to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect care functions.
May be expected to lift twenty-five pounds without assistance. Is required to obtain assistance when moving patients unable to assist in move, unless patient is in wheelchair or on gurney. May be required to push patients in wheelchairs or on gurneys. Will be expected to obtain assistance when needed.
Bi-lingual Spanish and English is a plus!

Compensation: Based on experience, range $40-45/hr.
